Short Story Publication in Flame Tree's Moon Falling Anthology!

My fantasy short story “On Lunar Magic and Gryphons: Sofia’s Edition” is officially out now in Flame Tree’s Moon Falling anthology. How neat is that? This is the second time my words have made it to print, and I am, well, over the moon about it 🌕💜

“On Lunar Magic and Gryphons: Sofia’s Edition” is about a learning to embrace how you communicate and bond with others, and to trust in the things that make you uniquely you, even when they’re not the norm. Given the state of the world, my stress levels, etc., I would like to share the final paragraph with you because it still hits me every time.

I wrote this piece when I felt like my writing style had become bad, that no one wanted to read my work, and that maybe I was better off quitting. I still struggle with that, but now I’m learning better and better to write for me, to let that story out for myself and at most one other person (a friend or partner, maybe, someone supportive at any rate).

This story is about communication, connection, and learning that you aren’t a total failure if you can’t get something perfect on the first try—and that sometimes those expectations are designed to keep folks out, and that shouldn’t just be accepted. The ending is also, admittedly, a bit of wish fulfillment on how those with control react to change but hey. Sometimes that’s needed.
